Foxton Beach is under two hours drive north of Wellington - a popular place in the summer for campers.  The four wheel drive club to which we belong holds its annual summer camp there.

Foxton Beach was described in the "4WD North Island" book as one of the best places in lower North Island for playing and sharpening one's 4x4 skills.  The sand dunes along the beach are subject to erosion and require ongoing rehabilitation.  To help prevent the erosion of the sand dunes and to make the steep sand face safe for kids, the Club organised a Spinnifex Party.  We joined the local community in planting spinnifex along the escarpment, had a barbie (NZ term for a barbeque), before heading for plays in the sand.

Here're some of the shots from the day.
